This policy explains what information EatSmart ("we", "our", "the app") collects when you use our mobile application, why we collect it, and how it's stored and protected.
Information we collect
- Account information: your email address and password (stored encrypted) when you sign up.
- Health & nutrition profile: information you provide during onboarding, such as age, weight, height, activity level, dietary goals, food preferences, and allergies. This is used solely to generate your personalized meal plans and nutrition targets.
- Food photos: images you choose to take or upload to log a meal or analyze its nutrition content.
- Food & weight logs: the meals, calories, and weight entries you log while using the app.
- Payment verification: if you subscribe to a paid plan, the payment screenshot and transaction details you submit for manual verification (we do not process card payments or store financial account credentials).
- Basic usage data: standard technical information (such as device type and app version) needed to operate and troubleshoot the service.
How we use your information
- To generate and personalize your meal plans and nutrition tracking.
- To analyze food photos and estimate nutritional content.
- To verify manual payment submissions and activate your subscription.
- To send transactional emails, such as password reset codes.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the app.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
Third-party services we use
- Supabase: our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
- Groq: an AI provider used to generate meal plans and analyze food photos you submit. Food-related text and images may be sent to Groq for processing.
- YouTube (Google): used to find a recipe tutorial video for dishes in your meal plan. Only the dish name is sent as a search query, and no personal or account information is shared.
- Email delivery: used solely to send password-reset codes to your registered email address.
Data retention & deletion
We retain your account and usage data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. We will delete it within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain limited records for legal or accounting purposes.
Data security
We use industry-standard measures, including encrypted storage and secure network connections, to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's privacy
EatSmart is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and material changes will be communicated within the app.
